Intermittent Occupancy Loads
Sanctuaries sit empty — and often unoccupied for days — between services, then fill to capacity within minutes when the congregation arrives. In South Florida, an unconditioned or minimally conditioned sanctuary can reach 85–90°F during a weekday. An HVAC system that cannot pre-cool this volume to comfortable temperature before service start is not adequate for worship facility operation, regardless of its steady-state capacity rating.
